Flat for Rent and Sale - Property in Bahrain - Places to Rent and live
Places to live in Bahrain are Hamala, Jasra, Saar, Janabiya, Budaiya, Adliya, Riffa Views, Amwaj are amongst the various popular residential areas given the abundance of individual villas and villas in compounds, which lends a suburban city feel. Amwaj is a completely man-made island, which gives a different life style compared to the rest of Bahrain for people who enjoy the beach life. Amwaj has been famous for the trendy new beach going families, with plenty to offer in their own little cocoon of an island, that don’t feel or hear or smell anything but the crisp sea air.
Other areas in Bahrain such as Juffair and Seef offer an abundance of restaurants, entertainment venues and various other services. The presence of the US Naval Base in Juffair makes it one of the favorite destinations for anyone seeking an upbeat lifestyle. Alternatively, Seef has Bahrain’s biggest shopping complexes, which houses all the major brands from across the world.

How easy is it to buy property in Bahrain?
As an expat, can foreigners purchase real estate in Bahrain? Yes, you can indeed. Foreign Ownership is however allowed only on freehold properties. You need to understand the laws regarding foreign property ownership before you go through with your plan. Consult with your legal adviser about this issue. Recent changes in Bahrain Real Estate laws now permit residents to invest and purchase properties for sale in Bahrain.
For those who are looking to buy property in Bahrain, here’s what you need to know.
As an owner of a freehold property, you are entitled to a 5 year self-sponsorship, which can be renewed.
You are also entitled to a Residence Permit that allows you to sponsor your spouse and children (those who are under 18 years of age).
Once you have decided on a property and agreed with the owner regarding the price, you will then sign a reservation agreement, which means that the seller cannot sell the property to anyone else.
You will then sign the “Sales Agreement”, and pay upfront a down payment to officially secure the deal.
This agreement will detail the payment structure and schedule.
Once full payment has been made on the property, you will receive the title deed.
Keep in mind that the agreement must be notarized at the legislation court and the property needs to be registered with the Bahrain Survey and Land Registration Bureau. Registration fees vary from 1.5% – 3% depending on property type and price.
